If there's one thing we spend a lot of money on at our house it's kid's books. I get so tired of reading the same stories over and over and even though there are a few that she insists on reading every single day, she loves to get new books. She always listens closer when it's a new book, memorizing the flow and telling me what's coming up next.
Renee's favorites are:
- Cars and Trucks and Things That Go by Richard Scarry - This is hands down her favorite book. She LOVES looking for Goldbug and learning about the various vehicles.
- Silly Sally by Audrey Wood, Don Wood - She can recite this book from memory. We have read it that many times.
- The Napping House by Audrey Wood, Don Wood - She giggles at the end of this book every.single.time. I love the build up and anticipation and the illustrations are beautiful.
- Big Red Barn by Margaret Wise Brown, Felicia Bond - This is the first children's book we got (a gift from my sister Jen the day after I found out I was pregnant with Renee). It is still a favorite.
- Time For Bed by Mem Fox, Jane Dyer - Our last book before going to sleep every night. I recite it from memory sometimes when the kids are particularily aggitated in the night. It ALWAYS calms them down and will always, always have a special place in my heart.
- Angelina at the Palace by Katherine Holabird, Helen Craig - The way Renee says "An-ga-yina" is cute enough that I almost want to have another baby girl just so I can name her Angelina. A great little girl book.
I'm looking for book suggestions, what are your kids' favorite books?
Knuffle Bunny by Mo Willems (Aggle! Flaggle! Klabble!), Llama llama red pajama, Dr. Seuss (Baby Girl is just now starting to get into these but the boys have ALWAYS loved them, Go, Dog, Go! in particular), and Curious George.
We also love the Napping House, but you already listed that as a fave.

Love this topic. We recently started doing a book exchange with a friend and her daughter, to a get a little variety in the storytimes:) We also visit the library every couple weeks for some new books. Some of Ryan's favorite books have been "Tanka Tanka Skunk", "Wild About Books", the "Llama Llama" books, and a few Dr. Seuss like "Oh Say Can You Say", "Green Eggs and Ham", and "Dr. Suess' ABC." I sometimes hate reading Dr. Suess, but he loves them. "Knuffle Bunny" is a great one too. Oh also, any of the Jan Brett books- The Mitten, The Hat, Noah's Ark, Gingerbread Baby...those are popular as well. And Curious George.

We LOVE books around our house. It's something I love to spend money on, too. Reyna is getting Otto A Fish out of Water for Christmas, Llama Llama books, Caps for Sale, Ferdinand and a couple of others. She loves the, "If you give a...." series, a few Dr. Suess, Curious George....It's Monday, my brain is mush and that's all I can think of right now.
Thank you for the great book ideas. :)

Books are the best and isn't it amazing how they can remember every page and word...I have "accidently" skipped pages and rest assured that she always knows and calls me out...that a girl!

max likes the llama llama books, where the wild things are, roar of a snore, tanka tanka skunk, momma will you?, and berenstein bears books.
are you guys in that program where you get a free book in the mail every month? max LOVES to get a surprise in the mail, and they're usually pretty good ones, lots of his favorites are from that.
