It started out on the right foot, my Mother's Day. And I'm calling it mine affectionately, like I'm petting a little baby kitten that is soft and cuddly. I loved this day so much.
My young son woke me up at 2:15AM having gone to bed at 7:30PM. I ALMOST DIED. He Who Doesn't Sleep actually slept for many hours in a row.
The girl woke up at 5AM and when I realized that He Who Doesn't Sleep was STILL sleeping, I did something that I never do. I brought her into our bed. She looked at me, snuggled in close to my body, smiled sweetly and went back to sleep. FOR TWO MORE HOURS.
Renee, Cameron and Ski brought me to the basement to show me the new plants they bought me for Mother's Day. Renee picked all purple plants which made me laugh because I really don't like the color purple. But today I loved purple because she was so proud of "Mommy's flowers."
Then, He Who Doesn't Sleep? He took a TWO HOUR nap. WHOA.
We went to Max's 2nd Birthday party where Max, Ryan and Renee got to play together and eat cupcakes. I got to see FatJ herself in person for the second time and to meet her husband. It is weird (and cool) to see other bloggers in person after you have read about them on their blogs for multiple years. Renee told me ALL DAY all about how she had a blue cupcake and that Max and Ryan had green cupcakes. FUN.
Then, we went home and the kids actually took naps and I drank a beer while digging in my garden. Did you hear that? I spent 45 minutes ALL ALONE and I drank a beer! While doing something I used to love to do! I played in the garden!
We ordered take-out and everyone went to bed without incident. I came downstairs after putting Renee to sleep, looked at my husband and said "I think God Himself reached down and made it possible for me to have the best Mother's Day of my life."
The only real bad part of the day is that I didn't get to see my own Mommy :( I told Ski this afternoon that I think that this is the first time in my ENTIRE life that I haven't seen my mom on Mother's Day. And Mom? I missed you. And I love you. And HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
Whoa, sounds like you had a great day!! Hope the wee (non)sleeper keeps it up! It was fun seeing you guys again.
